According to doctors, those with Sager’s condition usually live between 3-6 months, but that can vary greatly. From there he underwent treatment which included a bone marrow transplant as well as two stem cell transplants.

Craig Sager, TNT’s flamboyant National Basketball Association sideline snoop, said Wednesday he is confident he will win his “battle” with leukemia while clarifying the prognosis he had originally presented on the recent edition of HBO’s Real Sports.

“Well, you’ve got normally three to six months to live”, Sager said of what he was told. But somebody may only have a week, somebody may have five years.

‘I’m going to make medical history. “(I’ve had) some victories and some setbacks”. I sincerely appreciate it and it means so much to me and my family.

Sager, 64, was first diagnosed in April of 2014 and the disease returned in March of 2015, forcing him to take the rest of the season off.

“Still kicking, still fighting”, Sager said. I haven’t won the battle. But I still have to fight it and I still have a lot of work to do’. “I look forward to continuing my work on the sidelines for Turner Sports”.
