The role was played by Guy Williams in the original 1965-1968 series and by William Hurt in the 1998 film. Back in June, Netflix ordered the Lost in Space to series and the casting continues.

The show has a ten episode order being put in for a 2018 debut as it gives us a new incarnation of the Robinson family stranded in space.

It was announced Tuesday that Toby Stephens and Maxwell Jenkins were added to the cast. The show will draw inspiration from the original show and centers around the Robinson family, who are forced to come together in a time of crisis.

Lost in Space has a new lead.

The sci-fi drama follows the adventures of the Robinson family as they travel through hostile territory in outer space.

Zack Estrin serves as executive producer on the new Lost in Space alongside Sazama and Sharpless as well as Synthesis Entertainment’s Kevin Burns (The Curse of Oak Island, Ancient Aliens) and Jon Jashni (Godzilla, Pacific Rim) and Applebox’s Emmy-nominated director Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones, The Descent) and Marc Helwig.

Speaking of which, there are still plenty of vacant roles still to be filled, including that of Dr. Zachary Smith, a nefarious scientist who sabotages the Robinsons’ voyage and leaving them, well, Lost in Space.
