I listened to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi talk about our Constitution a few days ago in the Parliament. Torn between having to pick either Modi or Rahul Gandhi, television channels chose to telecast both, but while Modi’s audio feed filled speakers, Rahul was kept on mute.

The Trinamool Congress and the Left too staged a walkout on the issue with the Left seeking action against the Minister, who was present in the House, and the TMC demanding a regret from him.

Citing the example of Pakistan which “failed because they did not allow the voice of their people to be heard… because their leaders crushed voices that were inconvenient to them”, he asked the government “not to learn the wrong lesson” from Pakistan.

Participating in the Lok Sabha discussion on intolerance in the country, Rahul said India has been successful because people have had the “space to talk” and have been allowed to be part of every conversation. “Be tolerant. Listen to your people, embrace your own people…Pakistan became a failure because their leaders crushed voices of their people”, the Amethi MP said. “Let us not learn the wrong lessons”, added the vice president of Congress.

Launching a blistering attack against Narendra Modi-led NDA government, Congress VP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday slammed the centre saying that a country should be run on the principal of togetherness. Give them the respect of trying to understand what disturbs them. “Go and listen to them”, he said.

In a 30-minute speech, Rahul singled out controversial statements made by Union Minister V K Singh and BJP leaders Yogi Adityanath and Sakshi Maharaj to buttress his claims on intolerance displayed by the ruling party members.

“The Prime Minister worships Dr Ambedkar however forgets that he spent his whole life defending these two youngsters”.

“Mr. Shourie has said that he has been the target of severe abuse online by BJP supporters ever since he turned a critic of the Prime Minister”.

On Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s description that the return of awards by prominent personalities was manufactured, Rahul mocked, “Why would they manufacture it?” This is not a dream like your “Make in India” program.
