Todd Bowles: We’ve grown some since first Patriots game
If the Broncos were to lose both games, the only way they could back into the playoffs with four straight losses would be if either the Steelers or Jets lost their final games, too. The only other team in the AFC to have wrapped up a playoff spot is the Cincinnati Bengals, who are the current number two seed, but while they are guaranteed to make the playoffs, they still could potentially lose the AFC North to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are now 9-5 and the sixth seed but who would be as risky as any team in the postseason.

At 9-5, NY is basically tied with Pittsburgh for the sixth seed in the AFC playoff standings. An upset isn’t out of the question, as I said the Patriots have done what they need to do to secure their post-season birth and the Jet’s are in a 3 way battle for theirs.
“It’s a different feeling about the game, but it’s not necessarily the Patriots”, Bowles said. Asked specifically about the Steelers’ comeback win, Bowles offered a slight chuckle.
On Sunday, Todd Bowles wasn’t watching football. We have to give ourselves a chance.
“They’re a division rival”, Bowles said. It’s their old nemesis, the New England Patriots. They have scored 30 points or more in six consecutive games and won five of those games to improve to 9-5 after starting the season 4-4.
The Pittsburgh Steelers were victorious in Week 15, as they handed the Denver Broncos their 4th loss of the season.
We all remember when the New York Jets beat the Patriots in the playoffs, and after the game Bart Scott (the leader of the defense spiritually), proclaimed “Can’t Wait!” for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In theory, the Jets could make the Playoffs at 10-6, but that would require one team out of the Pittsburgh/Kansas City/Denver trio to lose its last two games.
Through the last 3 match-ups between the Redskins and Eagles the Skins have a 2-1 lead over the Eagles, this weeks match-up is Philadelphia’s final home game for the year and in order to keep their play-off hopes alive it is win or go home.
Do the Jets have a realistic shot of making the playoffs?
NOTES: Bowles said X-rays were negative on LB David Harris’ bruised back and he is day to day….
There were also drive-killing penalties, and Randy Bullock missed a field goal and an extra point.
-PASSING OFFENSE: A. Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown continued their assault on the team’s record books. In the receiving end, Marvin Jones had 89 yards in four catches while A.J. Green added 37 yards.
-RUSHING OFFENSE: C. It was a starvation evening for all-or-nothing RB Chris Ivory (13 carries for 37 yards), who remained 49 yards shy of 1,000 for the season. And Cassel struggled, so he was benched in the first quarter.
The Steelers who showed up for the first half seemed to have forgotten that the season was, for all intents and purposes, on the line. That personnel group was created to stop the run, and it did for the most part. The last pick, in the final minute by CB Marcus Williams, came on an underthrown Hail Mary by QB Kellen Moore.

In what has to be one of the NFL’s most unlikely turnarounds, the Houston Texans are now in control of their own destiny to make the play-offs for the first time since 2012. “We just have to get ready for New England this week and how ever it plays out, it plays out, but we have to try to win our last two games”. Even though Bowles says it is not the biggest game of his coaching career, deep down inside he knows that it is.
