Peacock and Barnes called 911 after returning to the little boy, but due to undernourishment and hyperthermia caused from extreme heat, he was dead, NBC 5 affiliate KSDK reports. An autopsy showed that Braydon was malnourished and thin and died from hyperthermia, or extreme heat, the filing said.
Both Peacock and Barnes told police they manufactured meth in their home the week prior to the incident.
Peacock, who police say is pregnant, and the father, Lucas R. Barnes, 25, are facing charges of child abuse and neglect and manufacturing meth. They have not entered a plea yet and no attorneys were listed as of Wednesday.
The couple, Lucas Barnes and Kathleen Marie Peacock, found the boy dead on Sunday.
“St. Charles Police said Tuesday that the child’s parents were cooking methamphetamine at the time of the child’s death”.
According to KMOV, Police noted they found meth-making materials in a trash can and that the house was in such a condition that it should be condemned.
The little boy’s relatives were left devastated by the loss, writing on a GoFundMe page created to offset funeral expenses that this was an “unforeseen tragic loss”.
She later said on social media that Barnes was her son, “And I want to kill him”.
