Tokyo to host China, Japan and South Korea foreign ministers
“There are many problems existing between the three countries, but China, Japan and South Korea are the three biggest economy entities in Asia”. The SLBM launch took place shortly before their meeting kicked off. But North Korea, as it often has in the past, denounced them as preparation for invasion and threatened a pre-emptive nuclear strike.

“This exercise is part of annual training arrangements, is not aimed at any specific country, region or target, and accords with worldwide law and practice”, the PLA Daily report added. The format began in 2007 and has been held roughly every two to three years.
For the first time in several years, Tokyo will host a meeting of foreign ministers from South Korea, China and Japan.
China will continue to push for the peninsula’s denuclearisation, seek a resolution through talks and uphold regional peace and stability, Wang added. “It is important to overcome them with political acumen and advance cooperation”.
China denies this but refuses to compromise in what it says is a historical right to tiny islands and adjacent waters in the South China Sea where five other governments have territorial claims.
However the atmosphere of unity soon evaporated as Mr Kishida warned Mr Wang over naval incursions into the disputed East China Sea islands. It has also ramped up its saber-rattling after the United States and South Korea reached an agreement to implement a missile-defense system in the South.
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said last week that he would not raise maritime disputes with China at a meeting of Southeast Asian nations in Laos next month, preferring to talk quietly with Chinese officials.
The foreign ministers of Korea, China, and Japan hold a joint press conference in Tokyo on Wednesday.
“I strongly asked him to completely quieten the situation, prevent it from occurring again and improve the overall environment in the East China Sea”, Mr Kishida said.
Wang, however, in separate remarks to reporters, said he and Kishida had extensive talks but suggested the issue had been blown out of proportion. That goal is supported by Washington as it could help reduce the USA trade deficit with China, which hit a record of almost $370 billion a year ago.
The missile, fired from a submarine off the eastern DPRK coastal town of Sinpo, reached into Japan’s air defense identification zone, according to Seoul and Tokyo officials.
The foreign ministry said some 100 million won (roughly ¥9 million) will be paid to the 46 surviving former comfort women and about 20 million won (nearly ¥2 million) will be disbursed to the families of those that have already died.
