Like Campbell, Candle is a Mount Union alum (2003).

Iowa State football coach Matt Campbell has continued to officially pluck familiar faces from his old stomping groups. He was a receiver at the Division III powerhouse in Alliance, Ohio, and started his coaching career there before coming to Toledo. “He did a great job coaching our linebackers at Toledo and will do the same here at Iowa State”. “A lot of players and coaches have built the outstanding tradition of success at Toledo, so I’m very honored and humbled to lead this program”.

Personally, I am very happy with the hire and I think every Cyclone football fan around the country should be too.

He said his coaching staff will focus on recruiting, inside Iowa and outside. The Rockets averaged 440 yards per game on offense this season under Candle.
