Tom Brady hard on himself after loss to Eagles

That’s when the Patriots receivers dropped three passes in a row to turn the ball over on downs.

“We’ve got to do a better job”, said quarterback Tom Brady.

The offense is limping along, and Brady is dealing now with receivers who are young and inexperienced. The Patriots, on the other hand, were coming off their first loss of the season, after starting a ideal 10-0, and were an incredible 38-4 following a loss since 2003, according to ESPN. Eagles WR Miles Austin, who had just two catches in the previous five games, was inactive. But everything unraveled in the third quarter, as Brady threw two interceptions around the end zone, with one of those being returned by the Eagles’ Malcolm Jenkins for a touchdown. The Eagles never trailed again, and they eventually built a 35-14 lead before New England scored a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns in a comeback attempt that fell short. Similar to what happened in the Denver game or what happened at the end of the Giants game.

The Philadelphia Eagles celebrate their 35-28 win over the New England Patriots in an NFL football game, Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, in Foxborough, Mass.

Joe Judge, New England’s special team’s coach, has received praise throughout the course of the year – but the team wasn’t ready for this week’s challenge. Murray had just eight carries for 24 yards.

The game was essentially lost on the punting game.

Did the Patriots cover?

This begs the question: why not run up to the line and have Tom Brady sneak it?

“This is as hard a place as there is to win, and against the best quarterback in the business to get a win and to do it after the adversity we faced the last three weeks, it speaks to the character of these men.”

Allen’s numbers are in line with his first two seasons, while Slater, Nate Ebner, and Brandon King are fixtures on coverage units.

Belichick also recalled times when Vrabel ventured into the defensive backfield at practice.

But for the first time in New England, that’s okay.

Even if the Patriots continue their slide, they still have a great opportunity to own a Wild Card spot. In that 2011 season, the Patriots ranked third in the National Football League in scoring, second in total offense and advanced to Super Bowl XLVI with O’Brien coordinating the offense. Maragos charged through an opening in the middle and blocked the punt. The two team would trade punts before they would score with about five and half minutes left and recovered an onside kick.

The Patriots are now faced with the challenge of playing three of their last four games of the regular season on the road.

While its absolutely important that the Patriots focus more on winning in January than winning in December, if Gronk’s is able to go, there is no point waiting.
