Tom Brady keeping his plan during four-game suspension under wraps

The regular season is a week away, but Tom Brady won’t return to the field until he serves a four-game suspension for his role in the Deflategate silliness. He surely has a plan for his absence.

“How will you stay sharp?” he was asked by reporters on Tuesday. “I’ve got another – hopefully – opportunity to play again on Thursday night, and then I’ll be with the team Friday, and then, you know, try to do the best I can over the next month to stay sharp”.

So why isn’t he commenting on his plans? “I wish I’d play every game”, Brady said.

That’s the same approach he took when former Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III wanted to pick Brady’s brain.

“That was a long time ago, but in college you have maybe a little bit of that”, Brady said Tuesday.

Despite his reluctance to discuss his plans, Brady was willing to elaborate on his mindset. Trying to use those days the best I possibly can, just like I always would.

Brady said he has “tried to just find different ways to be positive”, before adding, “it is what it is at this point; we’ll do the best we can do”.

It was noted the National Football League said he would be able to continue working with his “body guru” Alex Guerrero, which Brady said was “nice of them”.

Whatever Brady does during his suspension, it’s obvious he’ll be working.

He talked about how tough it will be to watch the games he can’t play in, citing his love of football and how the game is always on his mind. “Between our coaches and our players, we’ve got a lot of great leaders, so I’m very confident in that. We played golf together; I’d be at his house for dinner”. It’s very humbling, too, because it’s incredibly hard to perform at a high level every day. And it’s very humbling, too, because it’s incredibly hard to perform at a high level every day, and you’ve gotta push yourself and find different ways to motivate yourself over the course of long periods of time.

Before that, Brady went into his relationship with not just Drew Bledsoe but other relationships with other quarterbacks, going back to his days at MI in the late 90s.
