What are your thoughts on the rumored cast in the remake of “The Mummy”?

The latest on the project is that it’s recruiting Jake Johnson to appear in the movie.
While perhaps best known for his TV work, Johnson has had much success branching into film over the past few years as well, taking roles of varying sizes in such films as Safety Not Guaranteed, 21 Jump Street, The Lego Movie, Neighbors and Let’s Be Cops.
In other news, Cinema Blend also claims that Annabelle Wallis will also join Johnson in “The Mummy” reboot. Subsequent sequels to the original The Mummy saw Tom Tyler (who played Captain Marvel/Shazam in the original 1941 serials) and later Lon Chaney Jr. playing a different mummy than the one Karloff played.
The “Peaky Blinders” actress is being lined up to star alongside Tom Cruise in Universal’s new era of monster films, according to the Hollywood Reporter. If the talks follow through, Annabelle will be playing the role of an archaeologist.
“The Mummy” reboot will start filming this April and will release in theaters in June 9, 2017. Sofia Boutella has been confirmed to play the monster.

Directed by Alex Kurtzman from a script by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus), The Mummy represents the first installment of an interconnected movie universe based on Universal’s classic creature features, which include Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Invisible Man.
