Tom Hanks’ ‘Sully’ soars at box office with $35.5M

Bad Moms has cemented itself as a financial success, an estimated $2.8 million weekend adding up to over $107.5 million at the domestic box office.

The movie, which stars Tom Hanks as Captain Chesley Sullenberger, tells the story of pilot Sullenberger’s “Miracle on the Hudson” landing of US Airways Flight 1549 in 2009 and its aftermath.

“This is what the fall is all about – Oscar contenders, stories with some depth and gravitas – and Hanks and Eastwood delivered that”, says comScore senior media analyst Paul Dergarabedian.
