Tomlin: Roethlisberger ‘has a chance’ to play against Denver

The league also is reviewing the conduct of other players and coaches during the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 18-16 victory at Paul Brown Stadium on Saturday night that turned on penalties against Burfict and Bengals cornerback Adam Jones in the final minute.

Brown, who was put in concussion protocol after a hit to the helmet by Burfict following an incomplete pass, is said to be fine and should be able to play. Despite his ability to get back on the field then, and despite a report from Monday suggesting that he’s certain to play, Roethlisberger indicated he remains uncertain of just what this weekend will bring. It’s not known if Brown will be ready to play Sunday.

Roethlisberger telling 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh that his shoulder has torn ligaments as well as a sprained AC joint only fuels the Broncos’ need to study more than one quarterback.

Roethlisberger left Saturday’s game after being sacked by Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict.

In my honest opinion, unless Roethlisberger recovers dramatically during the week, I believe that he should not try to take the field.

Tomlin added: “This is what I’m gonna do about all of that so that we can move on”.

“I’ll go in tomorrow with the intent to see what I can do”, Roethlisberger said. “But unfortunately, he can’t have that kind of blow with the guy that’s receiving the pass. But it didn’t go over the edge for the course of the season”.

While the Steelers take the practice field we’ll be busy looking for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Vaccaro said the Broncos would likely be 6-point favorites with Roethlisberger, and 11-point favorites if he doesn’t play.

Coach Gary Kubiak said that he’s spoken to the team about keeping their composure in light of what happened in Cincinnati and said he thinks the “players understand that” one penalty can be the difference between winning and losing a game.

“I learned a lot from my actions”, Jones told the media Monday.

Burfict had previously been fined for safety-related violations four times in 2015, including a $50,000 fine for brutal hit on Baltimore tight end Maxx Williams, who was out of the play during a Week 17 game.
