Tomlin: Steelers Will Rally Around DeAngelo Williams
The Bengals are 7-0 for the first time in franchise history. Instead, they fall apart in the closing minutes.

I’m not sure who he’s referring to when he references those who “wanted to see me down” but let’s go ahead and assume that he’s talking about sports fans on Twitter, particularly nasty creatures that they are. As I previously mentioned, he’s not one of the best in the business when it comes to that aspect of the game.
Steelers All-Pro running back Le’Veon Bell is done for the season after Pittsburgh placed him on injured reserve Monday. Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict, playing in his first game in more than a year after his own knee injury, rolled over Bell’s right leg when he dragged him down early in the second quarter after an 8-yard pass play.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin was criticized for his clock management late in the 16-10 loss to the Bengals on Sunday. It was a solid overall rushing performance considering Bell’s importance to the offense, but in the fourth quarter when the Steelers needed something positive from the ground game they only got seven yards on three carries.
It took one game, and Burfict once again found himself at the center of controversy when he rode Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell out of bounds into the Steelers sideline following an eight-yard catch and run. Now the pressure will be on Big Ben to lead this team without one of the best running backs in the NFL.
In his 10th season, Williams has seen a steady drop-off in play since Bell returned to the lineup. After being tackled at the end of an 18-yard gain, Smith had to be helped off the field and could not put any weight on his right leg. He had five catches for 82 yards before the injury. Although the Bengals have to wait a couple months before getting a chance to end a 24-year playoff victory drought, head coach Marvin Lewis said he’s sensed the excitement around town. Williams had 41 carries for 204 yards and three touchdowns. After the game, Steelers offensive lineman Ramon Foster said he thought the Bengals were “aiming” to injure Steelers players. I could have run into him, and it would have been second down. And it didn’t take long to remind them of what they’d missed. Roethlisberger completed 28 of 45 passes for 262 and a touchdown.
The Minnesota Vikings came out on top in their clash with the Chicago Bears as Adrian Peterson ran for 103 yards and Blair Walsh kicked a 36-yard field goal in their 23-20 win. Roethlisberger sailed a few passes and was off-target at times. “He’s just got that mentality they’re going to draft good players, they don’t care what anybody else thinks”.
“I didn’t mean to hurt him, but I mean it’s football”, Burfict said.
The Bengals wasted several scoring chances in the second half as Pittsburgh’s defence tried to hold on.
The Cincinnati Bengals middle linebacker is back from two knee operations and making an impact on a defense that could use a boost heading into the midpoint of a so-far undefeated season. This is a huge blow for Pittsburgh, and truly unfortunate that it happened on the first game of the season in which quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, receivers Martavis Bryant and Antonio Brown, and Bell were all on the field together.
