So during this time, we here at Rox Pile would like to honor the late pitcher by highlighting his Major League career for you. He was traded to the Angels in November 2012 for reliever Jordan Walden.

Hanson was placed in a coma Monday night.

In five major league seasons, four with the Braves, Hanson went 49-35 with a 3.80 ERA. Hanson pitched over 200 innings and had a 3.33 ERA, but did not receive much run support from his offense (10-11). He signed with the Texas Rangers in 2014 but was released prior to the season. After suffering multiple injuries, he attempted to comeback with several teams, but never again reached the majors.

Zach Klein of WSB-TV in Atlanta first reported Hanson’s hospitalization.

According to WSB, Hanson was initially rushed to a hospital Sunday morning after he had trouble breathing. The 29-year-old former Braves and Angels hurler posted a 4.76 ERA over 15 starts with the Giants’ Triple-A affiliate in 2015.

There hasn’t been any reports on the exact reason why Hanson is in a coma.

Hanson was a highly-touted prospect when he made his debut in 2009.
