Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 Download Is Just 4.6GB

The very first update for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is a little bigger than initially anticipated.

We have been used to large day one patches nowadays, but what’s weird here is that the entire Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 weighs a mere 4.6 GB on PlayStation 4. If there’s demand out there for a review from us, we’ll do it; but, man, this patch size is not promising. Sadly, it appears Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is ugly inside and out.

Eurogamer posted a video this morning of gameplay based off of a single hour with the game. The patch’s size might also have to do with the game’s late-in-development visual changes, which went from a realistic look to a more cel-shaded art style only a few weeks away from launch. They do, however, cost less than their Xbox One and PlayStation 4 counterparts. One user, who gave the game a 1/10, called the physics “terrible and inconsistent across the board”, and that its mechanics don’t resemble the original games “in the slightest”.

Perhaps this is just a sign that Activision shouldn’t let Robomodo handle its Tony Hawk games anymore. If I’m being honest, the game wasn’t as bad as it was painted, although it desperately needed more work on the controls; still, it was a poorly timed release.
