Tony Pulis: No rush to sign new West Brom contract

“Most of the season we’ve had two or three of the young ones coming up and training with us”.

The Baggies finished 13th in the league in 2015, but disappointing results early in the season led to head coach Alan Irvine being replaced by current manager Tony Pulis.

“There’s been no discussions about contracts or anything [yet]”. The accounts note, however, that the club has bought £27.8 million worth of players since the year-end, with arrivals including Salomón Rondón, the Venezuelan centre-forward, for whom West Brom splashed a record fee.

Former Stoke and Crystal Palace boss Pulis is known to want to make significant changes to the squad after failing to land several targets over the last few transfer windows.

“Some will like you, some won’t like you, some can be persuaded, some can’t be persuaded”.

“Every club you can go into you can say you’d like this to happen, you’d like that happen”, he said. They’ve got exceptional talent and everyone involved with the academy should be really proud of what they’re doing. “It’s a very well run club and everything is in place”.

Pulis has guided the Baggies to 11th in the Barclays Premier League after they reached 40 points with a 0-0 draw at Sunderland on Saturday.

“Everybody outside will understand and recognise now how hard this league is, and you should never take it for granted”.
