Tony Romo breaks collarbone as Cowboys beat Eagles

“We’ve got to be careful”.

“We have to play better offensively”.

In the 3rd quarter of the week two game in Philadelphia Romo took a hit from an Eagle defender leaving Romo laying on the field holding his left shoulder.

Lee was everywhere on the evening, leading the team with 14 tackles and also contributing the most significant takeaway of the afternoon, a he intercepted a Sam Bradford pass in the end zone in the third quarter to extinguish the Eagles’ best scoring opportunity up until that point. Rolling with Weeden is a scary thought and you know as well as I do – when he came in to take over, we all felt a collapse looming. The only way these situations work is if everybody else does a little bit more, and the backup can drive the bus without shooting the tires, blowing up the engine and running it into the Trinity River.

Romo – who once played with a punctured lung – vowed afterward to return soon, but he wouldn’t find many doctors willing to share that optimistic outlook. He’ll also be out about 10 weeks.

“Equipped to win as easy and as well as having Romo at quarterback?” Dallas already lost Bryant last week.

With star receiver, Dez Bryant, out for a while due to a broken foot, requiring surgery. He is expected to be out four to six weeks but could need longer to recover.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones questioned referee Tony Corrente and his officiating crew.

Of course, the headlines around this game will be focused on the absence of Tony Romo and Dez Bryant.

He put his head in his hand and rubbed his forehead, an apt reaction to Romo’s broken clavicle.

Hicks landed on top of Romo, forcing the quarterback’s shoulder into the ground.

Romo went directly to the locker room and came out midway through the fourth quarter in a sling. “And the National Football League is really about adversity and how you handle it”. He suffered a similar injury in week seven in 2010 and missed the rest of the season. “This is two straight games where we’ve struggled on offense and that has to change if we’re going to accomplish our goals this season”.

The Cowboys moved their record for the season to 2-0 while the Eagles slipped to 0-2.

“Mentally, we have to pick up stunts and knowing what the defense is going to give us and physically we just got to go out there and get it done”, said Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson.

“Whenever you have a coaching staff that doesn’t panic, the players see it’s not as bad as things seem”, Williams said. “Players are going to understand that”.

The Eagles offense sputtered to start the second half and once again they had to punt, for the sixth time in the game. Our standards are high for anybody who goes in and plays. “He’ll prepare well, and he’ll play well”.

Before the injury, the Westgate SuperBook listed the Cowboys as 4.5-point favorites over the Atlanta Falcons next week.

Dallas Cowboys running back Darren McFadden (Pulaski Oak Grove, Arkansas Razorbacks) rushed for 31 yards on 10 carries Sunday…

Do they have the guys upfront to get the job done, someone asked? “That’s big”.
