“We’ve heard a wide range of possibilities in terms of when he would be able to play”. Over his career, injuries have been an issue though.

Now it appears Romo is gone for the foreseeable future, and the Dak Prescott era has begun.
There now are not very many veteran quarterbacks available, but with the first round of cuts come Tuesday when teams need to go from 90 players to 75, some could become available. They just suffered a big loss to their roster. Every time he gets hurt he be out for a long time or the season. And for Dallas, it was a moment they were hoping they could avoid this year. He was crunched by Seahawks defensive end Cliff Avril from the blind side. Romo was hit from behind and immediately grabbed his back before being taken out of the game.
Romo lobbied to be put back in the game but the Cowboys decided against it. However, with a promising QB like Prescott, the Cowboys are not panicking yet for the new National Football League season and National Football League rumors state that Dallas is even looking forward to the future with Prescott. The good news is that he will not be out for the season.
CBS Sports first reported that Romo is expected to miss 6-10 weeks while recovering from a compression fracture of his L1 vertebra.
Garrett broke the news to the team after practice Saturday morning.
Romo is expected to be sidelined until midseason in a best-case scenario as the Cowboys will start rookie signal-caller Dak Prescott in his absence.
Romo was pulled from the preseason game and said he was OK afterwards, but as it turned out he wasn’t as he awoke Friday feeling pain, which prompted the MRI. Since his rookie season in 2003, Tony Romo has had several injuries that have shelved him for chunks of entire seasons.
Coming off surgery to fix ligaments in his left knee, Flacco played in two series spanning the first quarter.
Romo missed 12 games in 2015 to collarbone and shoulder problems.
