Jason Garrett refuses to rule Tony Romo out for the opener, but the Cowboys head coach does acknowledge that the quarterback is now in a back brace.

Rookie Dak Prescott has played well during preseason games, but Garrett wasn’t anointing him the starter for the Cowboys’ Sept. 11 opener against the New York Giants, just as he wasn’t ruling Romo out.

Garrett said Romo’s rehab will consist of rest and immobility but the coach refused to rule him out for the September 11 season opener against the New York Giants. He didn’t play anymore, and said afterward that he was OK.

“In a weird way I feel good about the fact that was probably as tough of a hit I took on the back as I’ve had in the last five years, ” Romo said after the game.

The Dallas Cowboys are not sure when they will get back Pro Bowl quarterback Tony Romo after he suffered a compression fracture to his back.

“Come Week 1, we’ll be focusing on Dallas”, he said.

It would not surprise me in the slightest if the Cowboys made a trade or picked up a veteran quarterback to act as the primary backup after final cuts.

Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs participated in his first game since tearing his Achilles tendon in the season opener a year ago.

“We’ll just hopefully see video of him for the next few weeks wearing a brace, then starting physical therapy”, Bosita said. It will open up a window of opportunity for rookie fourth-round pick Dak Prescott.

Romo missed 12 games in 2015 after breaking his collarbone twice and the Cowboys went 4-12.

One option the Cowboys have is keeping Romo on the 53-man roster for the duration of his injury.

Prescott leads all preseason quarterbacks with a 137.8 passer rating and 454 passing yards.

He is one of only four players in FBS history to pass for 70 touchdowns and rush for 40 touchdowns in a career.

Edelman played a limited amount of reps while rotating with the first-team offense, but this was clearly a necessary exercise to get him up to speed with the two signal-callers.

“I think the biggest thing for all of us is focus on doing our jobs”.
