Tony Romo set for second MRI as Cowboys mull IR stay
I don’t think there is any better opportunity than what you would get with Dak coming in next weekend, so it’s an exciting time, and here we go with the National Football League and a back up quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys.

In other words, the Cowboys shouldn’t be expecting Romo back until the more pessimistic side of initial estimates.
The Dallas Morning News’ David Moore says 8-10 weeks is a more reasonable timetable for Romo’s back injury. Those results will dictate whether the Cowboys carry him on the active roster or place him on injured reserve, meaning the earliest he could return would be November 6 against Cleveland.
The team could place Romo on short-term injured reserve, meaning Romo would be out for the first eight weeks of the season. The injury will not require surgery.
“We’re certainly getting our hands around it”, said Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones Wednesday at the team’s kickoff luncheon benefiting Happy Hill Farm.
Romo will have another MRI exam this weekend before the Cowboys make a final decision on his status. Whatever we do with him, he’ll need to be on our 53 when we cut it on Friday. But it may be we keep him on the roster.
“He’s very driven, driven to do what it takes to get back”, said Jones. I think this was s a freak accident. But the reality is, Tony’s going to come back for us and play great, we believe.
“It’s unfortunate for Tony to have some of these things, but I think the last thing in the world we’re anxious about with Tony is being fragile”.

The Dallas Cowboy are still looking for another quarterback since they only have rookie Dak Prescott and second-year man Jameill Showers on the roster. The dual-threat Mississippi State product has impressed in three preseason appearances, giving Cowboys fans hope the season could still be saved.
