Too much Curry, Pelicans fall to Warriors, 134-120

Warriors point guard Stephen Curry scored 25 points in 27 minutes as the Golden State Warriors continued their dominance of the Houston Rockets with a 112-92 victory at Toyota Center. He essentially set up residence there in the third quarter Saturday night, when he scored 28 points on 10-of-13 shooting, including 5-of-7 beyond the arc. On Halloween, yesterday, Curry wore a zebra mask and visited the mall with his family.

After leading the way to the Golden State Warriors’ first championship in 40 years, the fear was that Curry and his teammates would be complacent to start the season.

The Warriors finished the third quarter with a thunderous block from Festus Ezeli, denying Corey Brewer a layup with less than 5 seconds remaining.

Trevor Ariza and Corey Brewer both shot poorly for the second consecutive game, and despite a spunky start, Ty Lawson finished with only 11 points and 5 assists on just 2-8 shooting.

He is averaging these insane numbers by playing only 33 minutes per game, which is flat out ridiculous.

There should be a TV channel or an alert on a website that shows when Curry starts to catch fire from the floor.

The fun part is that this one isn’t even over yet, so there’s no telling what more we can see from the reigning MVP here on Saturday night. “There’s a lot of stuff we could’ve done better tonight, but you take the wins where you can get them and you keep trying to get better”. He looked very much like he was playing his first basketball in nearly a month (he was). Yes, there are players that are great shooters, passers, or ball-handlers, but there are no players that can do all three at such an elite level. We’re still not getting to it as fast as possible. He needs practically no room to shoot, and he can shoot from anywhere; literally anywhere in the arena. The drew a fair number of fouls but were unfocused from the line, making only 14-24 (the team’s total less Curry’s 11-11). It’s a awful closeout, but past year Green doesn’t even think about closing out that hard. Sandwiched between Curry’s outburst was another statement, as Harrison Barnes drove to the basket and dunked over Dwight Howard.

Curry is arguably the most buzzed about player on Twitter and on the Internet, especially when he is on a roll.

Curry is leaving more than just an imprint.

As widely beloved and celebrated as Curry’s become, he seems driven by doubt, whether quietly raised by peers, plainly stated by opponents (on whom he then jauntily thwacks 25-7-6 in 27 1/2 minutes in a 20-point beating), manufactured by looking into his past or generated by a perhaps deliberate misreading of others’ comments.

Curry is going to get his points on any given night, teams are just hopeful that he will not have a hot streak against their team.

Past year in game two of the Western Conferences Semifinals against the Memphis Grizzlies, Curry accepted the MVP trophy in a pregame ceremony in front of an emotional Warriors fan base.

Though Curry shined brightest, there were others who acquitted themselves admirably.
