Too soon or too late, game too much for Romo — JOHN DOHERTY
The Dallas Cowboys finished ninth in the league averaging just over 118 rushing yards per game last season, and should see a rise in their ground game with a new stable of running backs and a talented rookie quarterback. It’d be a significant blow for the reigning NFC North champs if Bridgewater were lost for the year, and put them instantly in the sweepstakes for a new signal caller.

Dallas Cowboys fans and fantasy football owners anxiously awaiting Tony Romo’s return shouldn’t hold their breaths.
Prescott grew up rooting for the Dallas Cowboys in Louisiana and suddenly finds himself in line to start their opener as a rookie quarterback with Tony Romo sidelined by yet another back injury.
And this is not the same back injury Romo played through previously in his career, either.
The Cowboys have a Week 7 bye, then return to play Philadelphia on October 30. Of course he comes across as a hater to many people because it is well known by everyone that watches First Take that Steven A Smith is not too fond of the Cowboys. The defense might not be good enough to get this team into the playoffs, but we certainly wouldn’t be able to find that out if it were someone like Brandon Weeden in there as Romo’s backup.
He also went as far as to suggest Romo may be done if Prescott continues to play the way he has in preseason. The players never believed in backup quarterbacks Brandon Weeden or Matt Cassel last season.
Moving forward to the final game of the preseason vs Houston on Thursday, Jones says the Cowboys will “go into the game with what we’ve got”, for quarterbacks and will “check the waiver wire” afterward. “And we can win with this”. I think Dak under center brings a lot of that there. That doesn’t mean you didn’t have a lot of excitement with Tony being healthy. “We’ve got a chance to develop that energy, that asset so to speak with Dak”. It proves the value of evaluating players at that position every year, regardless of how “set” you may feel.
There is no scenario the Cowboys are considering in which Romo won’t return at all.
“I don’t know if a number of snaps makes a difference if I’m ready or not”, said Prescott, who is 39 of 50 passing for 454 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions in three preseason games. Dak said it Sunday – this is still Romo’s team.
In 2015, it wasn’t Tony Romo’s back that caused him to miss games. “You build a team to withstand this kind of stuff”.
It seems that Tony Romo has been plagued with health issues since 2013 when he suffered a herniated disc in his back during Week 16 and required surgery. It just came two days later.
David: I really don’t think it’s either of those – and I don’t think he’s trying to confuse the Giants, either.
While it is hard to predict preseason games, I will give the Dolphins the edge in this one. Lest we forget the beginning of Tom Brady and look at where that has got his team now?

But they will have to play without Romo – again.
