Some of the biggest consumer electronics companies will be making their way to Berlin, Germany to unveil new gadgets and gizmos including but not limited to smartphones, smartwatches, home appliances, and more.
HTC rumours have been thin on the ground recently with the manufacturer seeming to stick to a flagship focus and not much else but it could be that the new HTC One A9s will be revealed at the IFA 2016. As for this Xperia X Compact, we did’t really think Sony would still carry the variant but several sources have pointed the Xperia X will have a smaller and lighter version in its Compact form. Lenovo is expected to unveil new tablets and notebooks and the company has already teased its own products with a YouTube video.
The event today is expected to be all about the next Samsung Gear smartwatch as the invite to the event seems to display two watch hands so it’s a safe bet. Sony generally releases its Xperia lineup at IFA.
For Samsung, IFA has always been the event for Note series launch but not this time.
Samsung has also launched an iOS beta program for Gear S2 and Fit 2, so we can expect the new S3 to be compatible with iPhones relatively soon. The company launched its ZenWatch 2 at last year’s IFA so we are likely to see them launch the latest version, the ZenWatch 3. There will be design changes on the ZenWatch 3 when compared to the previous models. In fact, it has been rumored that the phone will come with a phablet-size 5.5-inch screen and from a distance, you will be forgiven for mistaking it with the Google Nexus 6P. With Lenovo sent to attend the IFA 2016 event, the Chinese tech giant is expected to come in with a camera module to add to the Moto Insta-Share protector, Incipio offGRID Power Pack and JBL SoundBoost speaker we already know of. Rumors surrounding the Mate 9 include a 5.9-inch display, a dual-rear camera, up to 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. That doesn’t mean Samsung won’t have anything to show at IFA, but it likely won’t have any phones on the docket. The shutter button will work in a similar manner to what you see with shutter buttons on regular cameras.
