Top Gear is coming to Netflix – and internationally, too
Amazon Video is due to air a new show in autumn this year, hosted by ex-Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May.

Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer, said Tuesday that the reconditioned auto show is covered by the existing deal it has with the BBC, which produces and distributes the series. The show is to screen on the BBC next month, and Netflix already shows the older version of Top Gear starring Clarkson.
Sarandos did, however, admit overseas Netflix subscribers will be getting a taste of the new show.
The trio are now filming a new vehicle show, like Top Gear, for Amazon.
Sarandos couldn’t confirm whether it will be available in every country, but did say it will be multi-territory.
‘They bid themselves out to many people and to the highest price, like most creators do, ‘ he said. “It’s a natural process and Amazon paid the highest price”.
New episodes of Top Gear premiere on May 22, 2016.
They subsequently courted the likes of Netflix and ITV before signing a deal worth a reported £160 million with Amazon Studios.
An official said that the company had used internal data to track how much money the Top Gear hosts could make for Netflix, adding: ‘Clearly it wasn’t worth the money to make the deal’.

The new-look show, which has been the subject of intense scrutiny since Clarkson was ousted as host previous year, sees LeBlanc host alongside British media personality Chris Evans, and is set to debut on the BBC and BBC America in May.
