Nonetheless, UFC 203 was an eventful night of fights as Miocic is sure to have a lot of options for his next title defense.

Overeem struck first in the evening’s main event, hitting Miocic with a left hand that sent him falling to the floor in an obvious daze. Miocic won the title by knocking out Fabricio Werdum, his sixth knockout in nine UFC wins, tied for most in the heavyweight division in the last five years.
When all is said and done, these are the names that people will talk about after UFC 203, for better or worse.

“Now we’re a city of champions”, he said, “and we plan on keeping it that way for a long time”.
And if you want a reason to boo him, he’s already trolling Cleveland fans. CM Punk, a former WWE wrestler, made his MMA debut against relatively unknown Mickey Gall, who had just two pro fights before Saturday. “No one else is getting in there with us, so I’m going to come out the victor and that’s the way it’s going to be”. I agree with Joe Rogan that an interview shouldn’t be a higher priority than the fighter continuing to receive medical attention.

Both of these fighters are coming into this with a loss last time out which makes it interesting: Werdum lost his heavyweight title to Miocic and Browne was knocked out by Cain Velasquez at UFC 200. He’ll be taking on No.6-ranked heavyweight Travis Browne at the pay-per-view.
