We are all more aware of our personal safety nowadays and there is a lot of great equipment out there which is designed to protect us in our daily lives and leisure time. Safety equipment has come on in leaps and bounds over the years and protects us in all aspects of our lives offering us peace of mind both at work and at play. 1. The Safety Harness
Safety harnesses are used in many industries and trades from oil rig workers, street light workers, construction sites, roofers and lumber jacks. The fall arrest safety harness has been developed over the years and is used to prevent you from falling from an elevated site. The harness keeps you safe and secure whilst allowing you to use both hands to carry out your work.
2. The Hard Hat
The hard hat is another common piece of safety equipment which can be seen in many industries. It is a toughened helmet which is used in the workplace in such areas as construction and building sites. It is used to protect the head from falling objects, debris, electric shock and weather. Safety helmets come in all shapes and types and can also be used for leisure such as when cycling, off road riding, horse riding, canoeing and climbing to protect the head.

Ear defenders are designed to protect a person’s delicate hearing system from loud noises. They are used for loud construction sites, operating noisy machinery and for leisure sports such as clay pigeon shooting.
7. Safety Goggles
Safety goggles are used in many areas to prevent foreign objects, water or chemicals from entering the eye and causing possible irritation or damage.
8. Radiation Suits
Radiation suits aka the hazmat suit (hazardous materials suit) is a piece of personal protection equipment which protects against hazardous materials. They are usually combined with a self contained breathing apparatus.
9. Dust Masks
A dust mask is a flexible pad which is placed over the nose and mouth and held in place by elastic. It protects the wearer against dusts, cleaning product fumes and harmful chemicals and toxins such as those form paint.
