Topock Fire north of Lake Havasu City grows to 1438 acres
A wildfire that started in western Arizona jumped the Colorado River into California on Wednesday.

The Pirate’s Cove and Park Moabi recreational vehicle parks were evacuated and the Topock Marina was threatened by the fire.
Fire officials say the fire has burned vegetation in an area of Park Moabi and has caused minor damage at Pirate’s Cove near Lake Havasu.
Wildfire season is upon us as a massive fire is burning along the Arizona-California border.
Officials said the South Fire, as it was originally called, began in the refuge on the Arizona side of the Colorado River and crossed over the river into California, where is was referred to as the Pirate Fire.
An emergency evacuation center has been established at the Needles Park and Recreations located at 1111 Bailey Avenue. Firefighters and sheriff’s deputies from San Bernardino County are assisting with the effort.
Garcia says no injuries have been reported.
According to fire officials, the fire started in Arizona, but winds pushed the flames across the state line into California. Firefighters have no containment at this time.

As of 9 a.m., there were no road closures, no structures had been affected, and the Park Moabi Resort was the only area to be evacuated. No evacuations have been ordered so far.
