Torn Meniscus Muddles Future for Adrian Peterson

Despite winning 17-14 and moving to 2-0, the Vikings suffered a major loss at the top of the depth chart.

As a whole, the Vikings’ team stock has risen to pre-Bridgewater-injury levels. When Peterson left the stadium on Sunday night, things didn’t look good for the Vikings.

The Vikings’ defense stifled the Packers’ offense much of the night as they limited quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, to 215 yards passing with two touchdowns (one passing, one rushing) while sacking him five times and created two turnovers – a lost fumble and the aforementioned pick. “They got after us up front”.

Peterson led the NFL in rushing yards in 2015 for the third time in his career (1,485) while tying for the league lead with 11 touchdowns on the ground.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said Monday that running back Adrian Peterson, injured Sunday against Green Bay, has a torn meniscus in his right knee.

The Vikings beat the Packers, 17-14, in the inaugural game at U.S. Bank Stadium. He was quickly ruled out by the Vikings. “We’ve got to do better”.

They were excited! Let the fans be excited, at least until Adrian Peterson’s leg falls off and Bradford goes back to being crap and Diggs falls into a manhole and Blair misses a big kick, you know it’s coming.

In the after game press conference coach Zimmer said Peterson will get an MRI Monday morning but sounded optimistic, saying the injury had “calmed down”. They may struggle until the offensive line improves, but the combo’s proven production means the sky isn’t completely falling in Minnesota.

“We just didn’t really have anything going for us”, veteran guard T.J. Lang said.

Possible replacements for Peterson are reserve running backs Matt Asiata and Jerick McKinnon.

Diggs, in just his second year, and Bradford, in his first game ever as a Minnesota Viking, connected in the fashion of Daunte Culpepper to Randy Moss; hooking up nine times for 182 yards.

Asiata said that there’s “always something to improve every day and every week and something as a team we’re going to try to work on is our running game and go out there and try our best to clean it up”.

Zimmer said the timetable for Peterson’s return is uncertain.
