Tornado causes damage in Walworth County

An EF- 1 tornado tore through Walworth County on August 18, and it left a trail of destruction in its path.

A second EF-1 tornado was confirmed in Waukesha County near Big Bend. It was classified as an EF-0 tornado, the weakest rating, with winds estimated at up to 80 miles per hour. It’s very random but destructive just the same.

The National Weather Service confirm a tornado struck the Lake Geneva, Wisconsin area as part of Tuesday’s series of storms.

It could have been much worse.

Radar shows the tornado that spawned Tuesday night in Lake Geneva. No injuries or deaths were reported. Six buildings heavily affected.

Several trees and tree limbs were reported down in Lake Geneva along Lakeshore Drive, Cass and Sage streets, area parks, and Eastview School, according to the National Weather Service. Livingston County Emergency Management spokesperson Charles Schopp said there were no reports of any damage from the storms in Cornell or Pontiac.
