Much of the area has been under a tornado watch and flash flood warning since Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, Donald Jones, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, said a possible tornado caused tree damage near Gillis in Calcasieu Parish in southwestern Louisiana.

In Leesville in central Louisiana, local media reported street flooding, and there were reports of flooding in coastal areas as the storm system pushed waters ashore. There’s also a chance for minor coastal flooding, with tides continuing to run about a foot above normal.

– A second round of moderate to heavy showers could develop overnight Saturday and persist well into Sunday morning.

The watch is in effect in Monroe, Conecuh, Wilcox and Escambia counties until 10 p.m.

Officials said four homes were damaged from the storm that moved through.

The tornado was spotted about 3:11 p.m., as a strong line of thunderstorms crossed the area.

If outside, in a vehicle, or a mobile home, move to the closest secure building or structure that can provide a few safety.
