Toronto police: 3 dead, 1 hurt in homicide possibly involving crossbow

Two were without vital signs while another was seriously injured when officers arrived on scene however all three have since been pronounced dead.

Police also were investigating a suspicious package that sparked fears of a bomb threat at a downtown condominium that was thought to be related to the crossbow attack, the Star said. Autopsies for the three victims are slated for later Friday.

A total of three homes were being examined as part of the investigation on Thursday.

However, he confirmed that there was a link between this case and the discovery later in the afternoon of a suspicious package in an apartment of a residential tower from the city center, about twenty kilometers. A crossbow was found on the floor and was thought to be the weapon.

The condo suite where the package was found has been sealed until police can return with a search warrant.

Numerous police and paramedic vehicles were at the scene of a home, and what appeared to be blood was visible from aerial footage shot by local TV station CP24 on the driveway outside a garage.

Police initially responded to a stabbing near Mason Road and Eglinton Avenue.

Ryan was first arrested in 2008 in relation to a string of bank robberies in which he wore disguises, hence the “Fake Beard” moniker. He was sentenced to three years and nine months in jail.

“I see them working in the garden, a man and a woman, I see them with a wheelbarrow, cleaning up the yard”, she said. The woman is believed to have four adult sons.

Police say the man who called 911 was killed in the incident.

“He said, “Call 9-1-1, my brother is bleeding in the driveway”. Make sure the police come.’ He emphasized the police.

Jerome Cruz, a neighbour of the house where the attack happened, told CBC News that he heard screams before things went silent.

“This is the saddest photo I have ever taken”, Bartyik said in the photo caption. “I was raised in this house for 22 years and nothing like this has ever happened here before”.

Many in the area are still shaken by the events.

Bartyik said her grandparents are unable to live together in the same care home because of “backlogs and delays by our healthcare system”, and lack of space in the care facility. Police later said there was no danger to the general public.
