Torrance Gibson suspended for season by Ohio State

A freshman starting on the offensive line is rare at Ohio State, which says something about the lack of depth up front this season.

Gibson’s suspension was for violating the university’s student code of conduct.

Saturday marks the beginning to the Ohio State Buckeyes’ 2016 football schedule.

Gibson arrived at OSU last year as a four-star quarterback but took a redshirt year as he made the transition to wide receiver.

The coach said the 29-year-old Tebow has talked to him about the endeavor. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound senior was given a scholarship after making a 62-yard field goal in practice.

I have had zero indication that he wants to leave. The 6-2 218 pounder was drawing rave reviews from players and coaches alike past year but a leg injury sidelined him for the season before the first game.

A walk-on placekicker will start Saturday after a hamstring injury to kicker Sean Nuernberger, who missed most of camp.

“It was not from the athletic department or football (program)”, Meyer said at weekly news conference. He had a very good spring game where he showed the pass catching skills and running ability he displayed in high school. “I am just going to move on and stick by that I was disappointed and we have got to go play a game this week”.

But Meyer said, “Something happened in the middle of the night”.
