Tottenham beats Crystal Palace 3-1 and bolsters grip on 4th
Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey endured heavy criticism for some costly recent errors, but his confidence seemed unshaken when he reacted sharply to tip over Kieran Trippier’s miscued cross.

Crystal Palace praises Tottenham’s possession and attacking prowess following their 3-1 defeat.
Palace responded well and Hugo Lloris kept Tottenham on level terms with a diving one-handed save to push away Zaha’s curling effort. The ‘keeper’s lazy pass found the alert Wilfred Zaha who then crossed the ball into the area, however, but Alderweireld was on hand and cleared the ball to safety. “He can do it Premier League and also European Championships”.
Harry Kane gave Tottenham a deserved equaliser with a close-range header in the 63rd minute from Nacer Chadli’s cross from the left. From the resultant corner, Delaney had a shot, which was blocked by the Spurs defence. Receiving the ball from Christian Eriksen with his back to goal, the 19-year-old took the ball under control, lifted it over Mile Jedinak and, on the turn, found the back of the net with an incredible 25-yard volley.
It was a loss that meant Palace have slipped out of the top ten for the time being, but something that is more worrying is that none of their strikers have scored in open play this season.
The defender limped off 74 minutes into the team’s 3-1 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Alli also hit the bar in the dying minutes as Spurs ended the match with a hard-fought but well-deserved win to complete the double over Palace this season.
“If he lands on the right side, you are going to get the signing of the second part of the season and everybody would be going, “why didn’t we get him”.
Pochettino, reflecting on Spurs’ good fortune to have landed Alli when he might have moved to Liverpool from MK Dons, cited Lionel Messi nearly joining Espanyol in 2004 as an example of near misses in football. He said: “It was wonderful”.
“He showed tremendous quality, it will be shown around the world on every TV”, he said. It is a most fantastic day for the team.

“I have had difficulty with players before, no more than Hatem Ben Arfa at Newcastle”. I can not think of a better goal from a team-mate in any game I have been involved in.
