Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino: It’s too early to talk about the title

Spurs need just a point to finish top of the group while Monaco will be playing to win and hoping Anderlecht drop points to the Azerbaijani side.

Tottenham Hotspur scored a thumping midweek Europa League victory over AS Monaco and will be aiming to take that devastating form into the weekend as they are presented with a fixture that, on paper, they should deal with comfortably. “He is quite strong, he is quick, he is a good footballer”.

Newcastle will again be without midfielder Cheick Tiote because of a knock as well as winger Rolando Aarons (foot) and defender Jamaal Lascelles (hamstring).

Onomah was perhaps the most exciting newcomer on show at White Hart Lane and the attacking midfielder may be given further chances to impress while Mousa Dembele struggles with illness and Nacer Chadli regains sharpness following two months out with injury.

Everyone wants to play, which Ryan Mason alluded to when he was making his return before suffering another injury setback against Chelsea.

‘Every game we go into we believe we can win the match and that’s no different on Thursday against Monaco. “That is important for us”. But it’s true we need to assess him this afternoon. So we have to prepare for the battle.

While Tottenham will avoid the top seeds expelled from the Champions League when the Round of 32 draw is made, they could still face tough opposition in Borussia Dortmund, Gary Neville’s Valencia, and Europa League holders Sevilla.

“We are confident but we are not over confident”.

“Ever since I was nine my dream has been to play for Tottenham and this proved how it can all happen if you work hard”, Onomah told his club’s official website.

“We need our squad”.

“Fiorentina through: Serie A high-fliers Fiorentina confirmed their place in the last 32 with a 1-0 win at home to Belenenses of Portugal in Florence, Khouma Babacar scoring the only goal of the game”.

‘We know from the first game that they love to try to catch you on the break and they’ve got some very good players in the team so we need to be wary of that, but hopefully we’ll get the job done.
