Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino not ruling out possibility of taking

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has already spelled his intentions for Kane, as he said: “I am happy that a big club want our players – this is because they show they are a top player with top performances”.

England striker Harry Kane continued his fine form by netting the only goal in a 1-0 Europa League victory over FK Qarabag to send Tottenham into the knockout stages.

“Last season it was kind of new kid on the block, not a lot of people knew about my game”, he added. Kyle Walker, Mousa Dembele and Danny Rose return after they were rested for the Europa League win over Qarabag in Azerbaijan on Thursday, but Erik Lamela (groin), Nabil Bentaleb, Nacer Chadli and Alex Pritchard (all ankle) are set to to miss out again.

Chelsea will still be without Thibaut Courtois, though the young “keeper is nearing a return to action”.

“The season’s wide open for anyone who can put a run together and take it by the scruff of the neck”, he said.

Eden Hazard has scored in his last three league appearances against Spurs.

Chelsea or Manchester United could clearly offer enhanced wages, although it has always been the strategy of Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to renegotiate contracts regularly for his star players and Kane can expect further increments.

Spurs have lost two of their last 20 home league matches (W12 D6).

They are fantasy thoughts for now, but as Pochettino’s profile grows, so do his possibilities, which extends to Sunday’s huge clash with Chelsea.

“Actually maybe it’s a little worse, because you need to fly almost six hours and then there is the decision about whether to come straight back or stay overnight”.

Chelsea fell over the line against Norwich and had an easy game against Maccabi Tel Aviv.

In an interview with Glenn Hoddle, which will feature in BT Sport’s live coverage of Spurs vs Chelsea, Kane explains: “I get recognised more often, going for meals or taking the dogs for a walk”.

“Tottenham lie fifth in the Premier League, just four points behind surprise leaders Leicester, ahead of Sunday’s visit of Chelsea, but Pochettino is not getting carried away by their fine start to the season”.
