Tottenham complete £30 million deal for Championship midfielder
Transfer Deadline Day lived up to its reputation as Moussa Sissoko confirmed a last minute deal to sign with Tottenham Hotspur.

For much of transfer deadline day, it seemed as though Sissoko would be moving to Merseyside after Spurs failed to agree to pay the £30 million asking price.
The 27-year-old was the subject of a late move from Spurs, who appear to have beaten Everton to signing the midfielder for a reported £30million fee.
The France global was expected to be heading to Everton yesterday after they reached a £30million deal with Newcastle, with personal terms also said to have been agreed.
Sissoko, though, insisted no such proposal was ever on the agenda as he remained in London waiting to finalise his switch to Spurs. It’s not surprising at all that Lloris and Sissoko are close friends, and having a good friend on your club team can make a difference, all other things being equal.
He put in some quality performances at Euro 2016 as France reached the final and he will hope to take that form into life as a Tottenham player. “I was only missing playing for the cup with the big ears [Champions League]”. “It’s a really great English club with a lot of ambition, which is the reason why I have moved here”.
Tottenham’s first bid of £16m was quickly rebuffed by Newcastle, and with Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy seemingly failing to get the transfer finalised, Everton swooped to meet Newcastle’s £30m valuation.
“I’m very happy, very proud to be here”, he said on tottenhamhotspur.com.
“That (Sissoko’s preferred destination) I keep to myself (laughs). Now we have a squad where every player who is here wants to work together to fight for the club”. I hope I will have a chance soon to play in this club or similar club …
“Away from the pitch he’s a very quiet guy but he is amusing too!”

Nevertheless, Hugo’s influence sounds like a perfectly reasonable partial explanation as to why Sissoko would turn off his phone and leave a private Everton jet idling on an airport runway while he finalized the best gazumping in years. “He is very committed, he is always ready to help the team and that’s why he’s an worldwide player”.
