Tottenham goes 2nd in Premier League by beating Watford 1-0
Spurs beat Watford 1-0 at White Hart Lane on Saturday thanks to a 64th-minute Kieran Trippier goal, but the scoreline could have been much bigger after what the Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochettino, felt was one of his team’s finest displays of the season. So it is good to see that the club has the ability to identify young players, buy them cheaply and develop them to play in the first team, and quite possibly sell them for a healthy profit. Much more often than not, the resulting throw-in ends up back in Tottenham’s possession within two or three touches, and often with the ball in a better position than it was when it was kicked out. “It is hard to explain but we live in the present and the group of players and the staff and the club and the president and the supporters believe we are strong and we can compete in different competitions and we can win every game – and this is important”.

Pochettino said: “I have read a lot about Arsène Wenger saying the toughest period for Arsenal was in the period that they built their stadium and I think you need to know, and the people need to know, that this is a very tough period for us”.
Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has backed his side to get one over Manchester City when the two face each other this weekend, according to reports from the Mirror.
Tottenham Hotspur won this week too, and they’ll take on Manchester City in the last game on next week’s schedule.
It was the right-back’s first goal for the club on only his fourth league start since making a £3.5 million ($5.1 million, 4.5 million euros) switch from Burnley last June. Everton, meanwhile, a similar profile of club to Tottenham throughout the Premier League era, have spent just £340 million on new players over the last 14 years, taking in £254 million in sales, for an £86 million net spend.
There were few positives for Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores, whose side failed to register a single effort on target. Mauricio Pochettino’s men now find themselves above bitter rivals Arsenal, which shows perhaps more than anything else that they are a side that must be taken extremely seriously by all. We’re all working for the same aim and hopefully we can keep winning games and getting better.
Harry Kane fixed bayonets for his Sunday teatime shoot-out with Sergio Aguero and sniffed: “We don’t fear anyone”.
There are 27 fixtures left printed in the Spurs programme that this side could play in – if they reached the Europa League and FA Cup finals.

“We’ve got goals all around the team now, which is important”. They’ve aimed to identify the best youngsters in the lower leagues and their own academy and raise them through to the first team. “Three players who we didn’t know the exact (fitness) level”, he said. Chelsea and Crystal Palace, though they’re probably not going to get sucked into the relegation race, dropped points too. Meanwhile Odion Ighalo scored for the hosts in the first half.
