Tottenham Hotspur: Injury Blow Leaves Mauricio Pochettino Without Star Striker

Kane is not thought to have suffered any kind of fracture, but is believed to have damaged ankle ligaments.

Premier League high-flyers Tottenham Hotspur declined to put a time frame on Harry Kane’s ankle injury on Tuesday amid speculation that the England striker could be out for two months.

“We will assess him tomorrow”.

Perez said: ‘The swelling is quite big so it’s impossible for the scan to give the exact extent of the damage’.

“I am not a doctor, I can only explain what the doctors said to me”.

“We all enjoy the way we work, but last season was a very, very tough season and very long, and you need time to recover that”.

“When you are involved in different competitions like the Champions League, it’s a new competition for us and we spent a lot of energy on Wednesday”, he said. “It’s impossible to assess today and know how long”.

Spurs also have two Champions League fixtures against Bayer Leverkusen and one against CSKA Moscow within that span, while England play Scotland in a World Cup qualifier at Wembley on 11 November. “That’s very important and it’s our responsibility to tell him”.

While Spurs signed Vincent Janssen from AZ Alkmaar this summer, potentially to relieve the burden placed on Kane over the past few years, the player has yet to score in six appearances for the Premier League club, despite his prolific record in Dutch football.

“We have a lot of worldwide players”. The South Korean has been in good form on the left wing for Spurs, putting in a man-of-the-match display on Sunday, but did play as a lone striker on occasion last season. “Always when we talk, it’s about the squad, it’s about teamwork”.

“You can see [Vincent’s] qualities”.

“Sometimes it’s hard. In the end it was fair”, he said. “Now he needs to be calm, and he has an opportunity tomorrow to compete”.

An injury of this nature is something players can’t be rushed back from and Kane will have to take sufficient time to recuperate.

Eric Dier and Moussa Dembele both exited the field with apparent hamstring injuries in the second half.

“He looked like it [to be leaving Spurs in the summer]”, Henry said.
