Tottenham Hotspur to forget recent Wembley debacles in UEFA Champions League matches

Spurs host the Ligue Un side at Wembley in the first match of their Champions League campaign.

They moved their Champions League matches to Wembley because their atmospheric White Hart Lane stadium has been reduced to a 31,000 capacity for its final season while a new 60,000-seat arena is built adjacent to their current ground.

Erik Lamela scored four goals in two games against Monaco in last season’s Europa League, including a first-half hat-trick at White Hart Lane.

Spurs, who have started their season with two Premier League wins and two draws, will also entertain CSKA Moscow and Bayer Leverkusen in their Champions League group.

Obviously, when you play that many games for a club and share good moments like we have over the last two years you create a very tight connection to the club.

“As a team we all hope it (Champions League) can be the stage for Harry”, said Davies.

Tottenham warmed up with an emphatic 4-0 win away at Stoke on Sunday which followed an identical pattern to the equivalent fixture which occurred towards the end of last season, with South Korean global Son Heung-Min bagging a brace.

“On the financial front I can see why it makes sense and the fact they’re going to change to a new stadium with a different environment, it’s a stepping stone towards that”. We want to make great memories.

“It would be incredible if we can do something as special to get to the final, but to get some of the world’s best players on our doorstep is something special for Welsh football as a whole”.

I think they’re stronger than when Spurs beat them last season, but I must admit Spurs produced a big display at the weekend.

“It will be an exciting moment to play with Tottenham in the UEFA Champions League”.

To that end, manager Pochettino confirmed his players have been training on a pitch which replicates the larger size of Wembley, at the club’s Enfield training base.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino said he was delighted at securing Dier’s signature for a further five years, adding: “It is important to keep your best players and English talent”.

“Spurs have already been doing this for a number of seasons with Pochettino so they can now go on and continue to play that way”.

White Hart Lane has been a good home for us recently and now we need to make Wembley our home too which I am sure we can
