Tottenham’s Son Excited to Play Club Football Again

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino admits Son Heung-min could have left the club this summer but is relieved he held onto him after watching him score twice against Stoke City on Saturday.

After a hard season last year for Son, in which he wasn’t able to establish himself as a starter, the 24-year-old has chose to make amends and get his Spurs career on track. “The decision was for him to stay and I am very pleased”.

“We have had the experience of the Europa League over the last couple of seasons, and hopefully that will help us in the Champions League to put in some good performances”.

He said: “We are really pleased for him, really happy”.

Five months ago, at this ground, Spurs won by the same scoreline to cut the gap on leaders Leicester to five points, though they would not win again in their remaining four fixtures as the Foxes sealed an unlikely championship victory.

Speaking after the match, Pochettino did confirm he considered the player’s future after the end of the 2015-16 season, but believes his decision to give him another chance has now been vindicated.

Kane was on target for the first time this season in Spurs’ 4-0 Premier League win at Stoke on Saturday, thereby ending a run of nine games without a goal which included England’s miserable time at Euro 2016.

Kane grabbed his first goal of the campaign, which Pochettino admitted was a relief to him and the striker.

Stoke’s luck was about to change, however, as Mark Hughes went ballistic after seeing a foul on Jon Walters go unpunished a split second before Marko Arnautovic was then booked for evading an outstretched leg.

“Always the strikers are anxious when they don’t score but now he feels happy, we feel happy”.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes is sent to the stands by referee Anthony Taylor for shouting at the Tottenham Hotspur fans during their English Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur. “The people who need to know how I feel have been told already, this season and in previous seasons”, Hughes told British media.

“For me also, It’s two years since I played in the Champions League”. “Sometimes you need the ball to fall for you, and it did today”.
