Tottenham technical director Franco Baldini leaves club
Squander the Bale booty and be condemned for an eternity, seemingly.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed on their official website that Technical Director, Franco Baldini, has left the club by mutual consent.
Baldini, who worked as an assistant to Fabio Capello in the England national team setup and at Real Madrid, saw his influence at Tottenham significantly decrease after the club hired ex-Southampton Head of Recruitment, Paul Mitchell, last November. Within the two-tier structure much favoured by chairman Daniel Levy, the Italian was entrusted with dictating the club’s dealings in the transfer market.
As well as the £11m capture of Eriksen, the Italian was an advocate of Pochettino’s appointment following the sackings of Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood, while young British signings Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Ben Davies have all shown great promise this term.
Ultimately, Baldini’s time in charge – having joined from AS Roma – will be remembered for the poor purchases he made in 2013 and now it seems Spurs are heading in a different direction in the transfer market, potentially handing Mauricio Pochettino more power.
“He leaves us now to spend time outside of club football”, said a Spurs statement.

We reckon naming the “Baldini Seven” signed with Bale money will be a firm favourite in table quizzes for years to come.
