At least 84 people died when a semi-truck plowed through crowds gathered in the coastal city, according to police.
French President Francois Hollande said on Friday that around 50 people were in a critical condition “between life and death” after a lorry ploughed through crowds celebrating Bastille Day in Nice.
President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) yesterday said that Taiwan stands “side by side” with the people of France following the apparent terrorist attack.
But the terror attack wasn’t far from people’s minds here, including Pierre who says many people at the Roundhouse Community centre were determined to have a good time.
The 28-year-old singer was in Nice when the attack occurred, however her rep confirmed to Billboard that she is safe. The attacker was a delivery worker and father of a family, prosecutor Molins said.

Hollande announced a three-month extension to the state of emergency imposed after the November 13 attacks on Paris that killed 130 victims.
France will once again fly its flags at half-staff to mourn the victims of a deadly terrorist attack on its soil.
In other words, despite France being under a state of emergency, which has seen hundreds of raids on homes and scores of suspects placed under house arrest and even after all the surveillance of Abballa and his criminal history, authorities were powerless to stop him picking two targets at random at murdering them in cold blood. Many foreigners and police officers are also believed to be among the dead.
The former congressman then called on the U.S.to launch a “dedicated coalition” against the Islamic State in the Middle East and in the U.S. “Our thoughts are with France and her people during this time of grief”.
Eric Ciotti, an MP from the same center-right Republicans (LR) party and the chairman of a parliament inquiry on jihadist networks, said that France should be under a “permanent state of emergency because the threat is permanent”. “There’s no denying the terrorist nature of this attack”.
“Today we are seeing the return of targeted attacks…by individuals who have pledged allegiance to IS and act as outside agents”, said terrorism expert Mathieu Guidere. He also said France was “tightening up its borders” and that military officials would deploy another 10,000 army reservists to patrol the streets of France, while “activities will be strengthened” in Iraq and Syria.
A Facebook page called SOS Nice has been set up since the attack to help appeals reach as many people as possible.

“It seems to be what happened in France after the horrific scene that happened this year”. Three national days of mourning are to begin Saturday. “A fraction of a second later, an enormous white truck came along at a insane speed, turning the wheel to mow down the maximum number of people”, Nice Matin journalist Damien Allemand wrote in a Medium post.
