Brammeier, 30, suffered internal injuries and fractured his ribs and pelvis, Cycling Weekly reported.

This is the shocking moment a top-level cyclist was seriously injured after a high speed collision with a auto during a competition.

In the aftermath of the crash, two more cyclists were unable to avoid a tumble as team members attempted to assess Brammeier’s condition and clear the road. “His musculoskeletal injuries are significant, however”, van Zuydam said in a statement.

On Twitter, Brammeier posted a selfie from the hospital, saying all was “good in the hood”. “Thankfully, Matt has suffered no head, neck or spinal injuries and is now stable in hospital”.

Brammeier was hospitalized with broken ribs, sacral and pelvic bones.

Five-time Irish National Champion cyclist Matt Brammeier is lucky to be alive after smashing into the side of a vehicle during a race at the weekend.
