Yaya Toure’s agent has told Sky Sports News HQ his player will prove he is good enough to feature in Pep Guardiola’s plans despite not yet starting a game for him at Manchester City.

Toure was left out of the matchday squad for Saturday’s 2-1 win over Sunderland and the midfielder has been omitted from the travelling party for Tuesday’s Champions League game with Steaua Bucharest.

Indeed, the 100-cap Ivory Coast worldwide is yet to start a fixture under Guardiola, utilised only as a substitute by the new Etihad boss during pre-season.

But outspoken agent Dimitri Seluk, who is often the first to link the 33-year-old with rival clubs, has insisted Toure is fully focused on fighting his way into Guardiola’s first-team plans.

“I know Yaya from Barcelona, how he loves to play football, I know perfectly his quality, he knows the reason why today he was not on the list, because I speak sometimes with the players to say the reason why, and I know they’re so professional”. City fans know he will do his best.

‘He is fit to play right now. “The performance against Sunderland was far from flawless”, added Seluk.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has described Aleksandar Kolarov’s display at center back against Sunderland as one of the finest he has ever seen.
