Tourism Watchdog Advises Caution for Chinese Tourists in Paris

Berlin police on Saturday boosted security in the German capital, with barricades put up at French sites including the embassy, after the attacks in Paris that left at least 128 people dead. The French Embassy in New Delhi was exceptionally open from 4.30pm to 6.30pm to deliver visa on the spot for journalists visiting France. “So far, no casualty of any Indian has been reported, though we have been receiving a number of calls through the helpline number which we released in the wake of the attack”, said Prabhat.

Official sources said the police has been asked to increase vigil and post additional personnel outside all embassies and high commissions here, and consulates in different cities across India. Commentators spoke of the “eerie similarity” of the attacks in Paris to the Mumbai terrorist attacks of 26th November 2008, in which multiple, “soft” targets with ordinary people being targeted. Referring to the attack as a “tragic ordeal”, Richier underlined that France stands united and determined to fight terrorism. The country will defend itself.

Richier said: “A state of emergency had been declared last night (Friday) across metropolitan France”. Security services have been deployed in numbers to ensure the neutralization of terrorists and the safety of all.

Strongly condemning the incident, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, now on a visit to Britain, said, “I condemn the barbaric terrorist attacks in Paris in the strongest terms”.

“We thank the Indian Central and State authorities for their collaboration”.
