Towns has 24 points, 10 rebounds as Wolves win in Brooklyn

In the early part of the season, one of the biggest positives for the Nets was the fact that they competed as hard as anybody and were in every game. “I think we’ve got a good thing going here and that’s our GM Milt [Newton] and those guys that’s their decision to do”.

Brook Lopez had 20 points, 12 rebounds and five assists for the Nets, who dropped their fifth straight.

In ATS trends, the Nets are 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days rest and 7-2 ATS in their last nine road games, while the Bulls are 5-11 ATS in hteir last 16 home games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall. “You come to work prepared and ready to play, and then the individual effort by each of us collectively should equal success”.

– Johnson on the team’s field-goal percentage: “We take a lot of tough shots”. We didn’t show any resistance.

The Nets’ veteran leaders, Joe Johnson, Brook Lopez, Thaddeus Young, and Jarrett Jack, are very low energy and would not be confused with generals leading an army to battle.

Prized rookie Karl-Anthony Towns notched a double-double while Ricky Rubio had another great all-around game to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves past the Brooklyn Nets, 100-85. We have to soul search, because we can’t have that going forward.

“It was awesome”, Towns said of playing in front of friends and family from New Jersey.

“I was just in the hallway warming up before the game, and I remember walking through the hallway right when I was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves”, Towns said. I just love the vibe.

Four nights after he approached an elusive quadruple-double in a loss to NY at Madison Square Garden, Rubio was on his way toward career and franchise records in assists before coach Sam Mitchell pulled back on his starters with the Wolves ahead by double digits for the entire fourth quarter. He likely would have more had the score been closer but the Timberwolves only needed him for 28 minutes on a day when they shot 47.5 percent (38-of-80) and had 29 assists.

And it was Kevin Garnett’s first game back in Brooklyn since the Nets traded him to the Timberwolves past year. When he gets on them, they respond, and when he pats them on the back, they smile.

Garnett left through a side exit without talking to reporters, just like old times.

The current Nets lacked that kind of intensity, passion and fire on Sunday afternoon – and got blown out as a result.
