Some 932,000 vehicles are involved in both recalls, so the total number affected is 3.37 million.

Toyota and Lexus are to recall 72,885 UK-registered Prius, Auris and Lexus CT 200h models due to two issues.

The company has recalled 130 vehicles manufactured between 2010 and 2012 under special service campaign.

Al-Futtaim Motors in the UAE will recall 130 Lexus cars as part of Toyota’s overall recalling of 3.37 million vehicles.

The Japanese automaker also issued a global recall for 2.9 million cars over potential defects related to emissions controls, though none are located in the U.S.

The Japanese auto giant said in a released statement the airbag inflator fitted in the cars may have a small crack in a weld and this could result in widening over time.

The company said in an April regulatory filing that it was investigating six incidents related to its air bags and a possible recall could cost it between $10 million-$40 million, net of expected insurance recoveries.

The subject vehicles are equipped with an evaporative fuel emissions control unit (canister) mounted in the fuel tank.

Elsewhere, 743,000 vehicles in Japan, 495,000 in North America, 9,000 vehicles in China and 46,000 vehicles in other regions are being recalled.

Thousands of Toyota cars are being recalled in the United Kingdom over defective air bag concerns.

Toyota says it’s also possible parts of the inflators could enter the vehicle and injure the occupants.

Toyota is unaware of any crashes, injuries, or fatalities involving the problems associated with either recall.
