Toyota Recalls 423500 RAV4 SUVs To Fix Windshield Wiper Problems

TORRANCE, California- Toyota Motor Sales United States of America is recalling approximately 421,000 2009-’12 Toyota RAV4 SUVs because the windshield wipers could become inoperative, the automaker said on Thursday. Once separated, the windshield wipers are useless.

Toyota The large majority of recalls is for the 2009-2012 RAV4.

Service technicians will replace the entire water channel, wiper link and wiper-motor crank arm with revised components to prevent future corrosion and failures. Unusual wear in the harness can cause a short… Over time, the corrosion could cause the wiper link to come apart from the wiper motor, meaning the wipers won’t work anymore.

If this happens mid-drive, the sudden loss of visibility due to the broken wiper might increase the risk of a crash. Owners of the affected models will be notified by Toyota via first class mail about this condition and a meeting will be scheduled with the local dealerships.
