Toyota released new teaser images earlier today and it confirms that they are bringing a brand new Prius to the New York Auto Show happening next week.

Of course, there is the chance this could be the new Prius c or Prius v, however, it’s believed these nameplates aren’t set to be renewed for a while yet. In terms of design, the new model may feature distinct design cues that will make it stand out from the 2016 Prius model.

If Toyota is going to reveal a plug-in hybrid or full EV, the Prius concept may include wireless inductive charging, some form of intelligent charging technology, and the ability to feed back into the electricity grid or power a home.

Updated, more horizontal rear lights look to replace the more vertical lights showcased on the hybrid Prius, which was unveiled just a year ago.

As for the car’s identity, it’s not known at this point, but perhaps Toyota will unveil the plug-in hybrid derivative.

There are also rumors suggesting that Toyota may introduce a new model name for its upcoming vehicle.
