Tracy Morgan receives standing ovation at the Emmys after vehicle crash recovery

It marked the first time Morgan had taken the stage since a traumatic June 2014 vehicle crash that left him comatose for more than a week and claimed the life of fellow comedian, James McNair.

Speaking to GQ, Morgan says, “I loved that idea”. From Viola Davis’ historic win to Tracy Morgan’s emotional return to Jimmy Kimmel eating a winner’s name envelope, we saw a lot of things happening at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles.

“Thanks to my doctors and my handsome wife, I’m here standing on my own two feet”.

Morgan was traveling on the New Jersey Turnpike when his Mercedes van was slammed in the rear by a Walmart tractor-trailer. He also told the audience that he had suffered a traumatic brain injury due to the accident, which put him in a coma for eight days. He said that after waking up from a coma, he was ecstatic to find out, “I wasn’t the one who messed up”.

Morgan said that sitting in the hospital, part of his therapy was watching his friends appear on television and to work towards being there one day too.

Tracy Morgan’s comeback from a career-stalling road accident is gaining momentum with the comedian and actor in talks to appear in a new Ice Cube movie. “While the violations of Mr. Roper’s rights continue unabated, clearly Mr. Morgan’s monetary reward has been realized and his personal as well as professional recovery is well underway”. “I just had to not be so emotional at that moment and I just wanted to let them know I missed them very much”. “I just feel in some form or fashion, he should have acknowledged my brother – his mentor – because he lost his life”, she admitted. “I’m here”, Morgan said. I love Lorne Michaels like I love my dad.

Shortly after the big moment, Morgan spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about how the return came to fruition.

Afterward, a teary-eyed Morgan took a seat backstage on the raised platform in the press room and took questions.
